Oh, those irresistible little pudgy cheeks and thigh rolls for days just make everything better and a little brighter on those cruddy days, don't they? I love ALL the babies--the happy ones, the sad ones, the naughty ones, the shy ones, the...well, you get the picture. This time of innocence and pure love is so fleeting, so bittersweet. Our babies change daily, and before we know it they are off to school on us, and then college, and....well, you get the picture.
These moments NEED to be documented and cherished forever. After all, if you don't get pictures down now, how will you ever embarrass the heck out of them at their grad parties or when they bring home their first boyfriend/girlfriend? :)
Whether you love or hate pregnancy (or both), you have to admit it is one of those times in life that is simply and utterly awe-some! You are a mama-goddess creating another human being with only your BODY. Think about it--this is as close to being a literal superhero as you can get. And in that regard, every pregnancy deserves to be revered and respected for the beautiful process that it is (EVEN if you had heartburn every single day and you could only wear your husband's grubby old flip-flops because your feet were too swollen from 37 weeks on....but I digress! And come on, it can't be JUST me that happened to!)
I'm going to be honest here. I usually get mixed reactions when clients find out I do birth photography. The spectrum ranges from "Oh my gosh, that is so cool!" to "Oh my gosh, that is simply awful, I would never do that!" And I get it, it's not for everyone. But there are two main reasons you might want to consider a birth photographer--first, birth photography allows you the peace of mind for you and your partner to just be present in the moment. No need to whip out the iPhone when baby arrives--you can be completely present and share in that once in a lifetime experience, knowing it's all documented for you. Second, birth is such an emotional and exhaustive experience, you don't always remember all the details, try as you might, and birth photography makes up for what you may miss later.
Also, birth photography can be as "involved" (i.e. graphic) as you want it to be--you are ALWAYS in control of what gets photographed.
Birth sessions begin at $1290.
Seeing these brand new newborn babes does something to me (other than give me baby fever-ha!). Seeing and working with these teeny-tiny humans renew my faith and hope that the world is an amazing place. Within this little person lies so much pure innocence, potential, and love, it just gives me an amazing natural high being part of the experience with them. This stage is gone incredibly fast, and so it deserves to be honored and documented.
Newborn sessions can either be done before you leave the hospital/birth center, or in your home.
